Cooper to Lead Football in 2026
San Diego High is excited to announce that Coach Stephen Cooper will be taking over as the program’s head football coach for the 2026 season. Coach Cooper has been fundamental to the Cavers’ growth as a program the past two seasons while serving as the varsity defensive coordinator. Cooper was also elemental in the team’s weight room programming and off-season conditioning.
”I’ve felt fortunate to have been able to watch Coach Cooper work so tirelessly with our student-athletes the past two seasons,” said athletic director Paul Coover. “As a leader, Coach Coop is disciplined, tenacious, and positive in his approach to building a program – which represent the core principles of our athletic department. His ability to elevate those around him make him the perfect fit for our school.”
San Diego High would like to thank Coach Syd Reed for his work with the program these past four years and wish him the best as he pursues new opportunities. SDHS looks forward to Coach Cooper leading the next chapter in Cavers history, one of the most storied programs in California.
